Peter Smith

Peter is a structural and civil engineer and is the Managing Director of SHL.  Peter will be providing design input,  and client liaison if required,  at a high level for the project.  Peter has extensive engineering experience and knowledge in large projects,  and will lead the civil and structural engineering design.

Peter has worked in Wellington for over  40 years, and is well respected nationwide as a leading engineer

Peter has serviced as the Chairman of the Seismic Retrofit Research Board for the combined Auckland University and Canterbury University, FRST Research project on Seismic Retrofit of Existing Buildings, and is currently on the Engineering Advisory Group, advising the Department of Building and Housing on the Christchurch earthquake recovery for domestic and commercial buildings.

He is, or has been, a member of numerous industry committees and engineering knowledge teams. Peter has serviced as an IPENZ board member. In 2002 Peter was awarded the MacLean Citation for his industry leadership and expertise in structural engineering and engineering practice.

Peter plays golf weekly, is a keen skier, a car buff and is a wine enthusiast.
