Ralph has developed a broad range of skills based on in depth experience in building control and set out, civil works and design, residential, commerical and rural subdivision, and is well versed in the planning matters that need to be addressed in terms of the Resource Managment Act and Local Authority Planning rules.
Specialist interests include a broad knowledge of the resource management process including the law applicable to the process.
Ralph has served as Chairman of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors, served as convenor to the education committee of the Wellington Branch of the Institute, has represented the the Institute in providing submissions to the proposed District Plans and currently sits on the disputes subcommittte of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors.

Expertise:
Hudson has over twenty-five years experience in land surveying covering a wide range of traditional surveying fields including establishment of small scale survey control networks, the provision of all necessary surveying services for the setting out of new structures from civil works through to residential dwellings and commercial buildings including the set out of earthworks, roading, piles, foundations, grids and profiles.
With the introduction of the Resource Management Act 1991, he has gained considerable experience in the field of resource management, including preparation of both notified and non-notified resource consent applications and presentation of evidence at consent hearings and the Environment Court. Hudson has used his surveying background and knowledge of astronomy and computers to develop an area of expertise specialising in the analysis of sunlight and shading. He has developed computer software to assist with the preparation of sun transit diagrams for the quantification of sun loss in conjunction with District Plans requirements.
