Ralph Jorgensen

RalphThrough 45 years of experience, Ralph has developed an extensive range of skills and knowledge in all aspects of land surveying, resource management planning, subdivision including freehold, stratum, unit title and leasehold, earthworks and roading design, building set out from underground to high rise, and land development for rural, residential, commercial and local authority development projects.

Ralph was a founding Director of Spencer Holmes Limited, established in 1984, and during that time, expanded the surveying division of the practice to include a full resource planning department.

In addition to his considerable practical surveying skills, Ralph has been very active in the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors including serving as Education officer and Chairman to the Wellington Branch and serving on the Ethics Committee of the NZIS, a position he has held since 1992, and on which he continues to serve.

The 1970’s building boom in Wellington provided Ralph with a very enjoyable involvement in Wellington’s high-rise building activity. Through his interest in building, Ralph developed setting out methodology for all categories of construction projects that largely eliminated the possibility of errors and has endured and transferred into the present electronic era. Ralph now enjoys passing on his knowledge to the younger generation of surveyors and willingly participates in educational work for the NZIS.

In more recent times, Ralph has been a member of various Project Consultants Groups including for both the Herd Street Post Office and Chews Lane Residential & Commercial Developments. He is also now retained on the PCG for the Clyde Quay Apartments on the Overseas Passenger Terminal wharf to advise on all aspects of freehold, stratum, and unit title subdivision plus building set out control for this complex multi-use development in the heart of Wellington’s waterfront.

Ralph is a keen outdoorsman enjoying skiing, tramping, fishing and hunting and remains active in these sports.
